Electric RC cars are the ideal option if you are new to the hobby. Electric rc cars are cheaper to run and to maintain, they also require less technical knowledge and patience to operate.
Hobby grade electric rc cars should not be confused with toys. The vast majority of these models will happily reach speeds of 30/40MPH both on and off road. Some electric rc cars will even reach 60/70MPH in their brushless motor configuration.
The only downside about electric rc car models is that they rely on battery packs. Most cars will have a battery pack included in the box when we ship them to you, a fully charged battery pack will power the rc electric car for around 10/15 minutes. For most modellers this is definitely not enough. This is why most people will either buy a few spare battery packs to use with their trickle (overnight) charger. Some will go even further and buy a faster charger for their electric rc car.
Like nitro rc cars, electric rc cars will come in many shapes and sizes, the most common being the 1:10 and 1:8 scale rc electric buggy, rc electric truggy and the electric rc monster truck.
Off road electric rc cars are generally more popular that their on road counter parts, mostly because you won't need to find a stretch of tarmac to run them. Having said that, on road electric rc cars can be most enjoyable and technically demanding if you have access to a rc tarmac track.
